Don’t Fall Victim to a Cyberattack – Know the Signs

You can never be too sure that your system is fully protected. Even with the latest technology, firewalls, software and security measures, you’re still a wading duck. Unfortunately, when it comes to cybercriminals, where there’s a will – there’s a way. • Everything is in slow-mo. If your normally high-speed internet connection and/or operating system suddenly takes a drastic turn and seems like everything is moving at a snail’s pace, you might be the victim of a cyberattack
• Wait – what’s my password again? Having problems logging into your system? But you know for sure you’re using the correct credentials; you might be the victim of a cyberattack.
• Why am I getting all these emails? If you’re suddenly bombarded with random, unwanted spam emails that you didn’t originally subscribe for or an overabundance of suspicious, phishing emails – you might be the victim of a cyberattack.
• Is my computer possessed? Does it seem like a ghost has taken over your system? If programs/applications on your system are suddenly opening and appearing on your screen without your command, you might be the victim of a cyberattack.
• Pop-ups are not fun surprises. Frequent pop-ups (ads, banners, links, alerts) polluting your screen is a tell-tale sign of suspicious activity to your system. If you’re having consistent difficulty with this, you might be the victim of a cyberattack.
• Wrong turn. Redirection of URLs or links is another major red flag. If you’re consistently redirected from a URL that you intentionally entered or a link that you clicked, you might be the victim of a cyberattack.
• Hey, I didn’t download this! Seeing programs or software on your system that you didn’t administer or install yourself? Big uh-oh. You might be the victim of a cyberattack.
